How to get to Los Angeles

Most visitors will arrive either by air at the Los Angeles International Airport or by train at Union Station.

How to get to central Los Angeles from …

Los Angeles International Airport (known as LAX): This is located about 27 kilometres (17 miles) south west of Hollywood. Take a Flyaway Bus (blue coach) that is going to Union Station, which is the city’s main railway station. The buses are available from all terminals at the airport and depart every 30 minutes for most of the day. The fare is $9.00 and journey time is around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. From Union Station, use the public transport system to get you closer to your final destination.

Union Station: This is the station that you will most likely arrive at if you are travelling to the city via train. It is located about 11 kilometres (7 miles) west of Hollywood. From here, use the public transport system to get you closer to your final destination. For example, take the Red Metro Line if you are heading towards Hollywood.

Taxi
Alternatively, if you prefer to take a taxi from the airport then these are also available. However, the cost is significantly more expensive when compared to the Flyaway Bus service. Flat rates from LAX to Downtown Los Angeles are currently set at $46.50 (December 2016).
