The city of Los Angeles, better known simply as “L.A.”, has a population of around 3.9 million people. It is nicknamed the “City of Angels” and is located in southern California.
Los Angeles is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of the “Hollywood” film industry. Although movies are nowadays mostly filmed outside of Hollywood, the area still remains very busy with the production of many television shows. Red carpet film premieres, however, still take place in Hollywood, at venues such as the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Boulevard.
The world famous Hollywood Sign and the Walk of Fame remain amongst the most popular of the city’s sights, but it’s not just about Hollywood! For example, you shouldn’t miss Rodeo Drive, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world. This is located in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. Other highlights include the golden sands of Santa Monica Beach, one of the most popular beaches in the city.
There’s plenty of culture too, such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, one of the largest art museums in the country. Its collection includes paintings by Cézanne, Monet, Gauguin, Picasso and Warhol.
