Mission Bay & the quieter St Heliers Bay seaside resorts are about 1km apart (with one other beach in between). These two beaches are the most convenient and easy beaches to reach from Downtown Auckland. Both have shops, cafes and restaurants and offer nice views of the Waitemata Harbour and Rangitoto Island - and swimming is safe.
A short walk from St Heliers Bay is Achilles Point, which is a great lookout spot.
