
The New Zealand National Maritime Museum collects and exhibits a diverse range of nautical and historical artefacts that represent New Zealand maritime history from the earliest Polynesian arrivals to modern day seafaring.
The collection includes maritime equipment, models, books, photographs, paintings, drawings, original archival material and periodicals.
The displays are original from boats to life size exhibits and include a collection of models and artefacts.
There are over 14 Main Exhibition Galleries, including The Edmiston Gallery of Maritime Art, as well as changing exhibitions.
Entry also includes The Pacific Discovery Theatre showing 'Te Waka: Our Great Journey', a widescreen presentation of the first Polynesian migration to New Zealand.
