The New zealand Dollar (NZD) is the official currency. It is sometimes informally known as the "Kiwi (dollar)"

There are 100 cents in a Dollar.

NZD$ Coins: 1$, 2$

Cent Coins: 10, 20, 50

NZD$ Notes: 1$, 2$, 5$, 10$, 20$, 50$, 100$


  CREDIT CARDS

Visa, MasterCard and American Express are all widely accepted in Auckland for most things including Shopping, restaurants, Hotel bills.


  MONEY EXCHANGE

You can change cash at Banks in Auckland

There are several ATM machines in Auckland, which may be cheaper to withdraw money using your debit or credit card, but this depends on your individual bank charges!!


  BANKS OPENING TIMES

Generally 09:00 - 16:30 (Mon - Fri)


  TIPPING

Tips are not expected for normal service in New Zealand - even taxis! However, it is now becoming customary to leave 5% - 10% at restaurants, particularly if the service has been very good.
