ABOUT MALTA The Maltese archipelago consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of around 415,000 - it is one of Europe's smallest countries. The main island, called Malta, is approx. 17 miles (27 km) long, and 9 miles (14km) wide. Gozo is 9 miles (14Km) long and 4 miles (7km) wide, Comino is a tiny island with only a few inhabitants. Valletta is the capital city of Malta The official languages are Maltese and English. The official currency is Euro.
