The Tokyo Tower opened in 1958 and is 333 meters tall.
The design of the tower is based on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France
Since 1958 is has been the world's tallest self-supporting iron tower. The Eiffel tower is only 320 meters tall. The Tokyo tower weighs 4000 tons which is much lighter than the Eiffel tower which weighs 7000 tons.
It is painted in white and orange according to air safety regulations. From dusk to midnight, the tower is brilliantly illuminated in orange. (Sometimes the lighting is changed for special events)
It has two observation floors where you can enjoy a 360-degree view. The Main Observatory (150 Meters) and The Special Observatory (250 Meters).
The Tower also has an Aquarium, Wax Museum and other various amusements, shopping arcade, restuarants and cafes.
