15 May: Dates back to the 7th century. Emissaries leave the Kyoto Imperial Palace and proceed to Shimogamo Shrineand then to Kamigamo Shrine.

17 July: The Parade, the Yama-boko Junko


OCTOBER
Jidai Matsuri
22 October: Procession of around 2,000 embark on a five hour, 2 km route to the Heian Shrine, led by drums and fife bands.
