The Sagano Romantic Train (Sagano Torokko Ressha) follows the course of the Hozu River on a narrow-gauge track through the idyllic canyon from Arashiyama area to Kameoka area. The trip takes about 25 minutes.
Tourists normally combine the train ride with a
Hozu Riverboat Ride.
The Sagano Romantic Train is very popular at peak season at spring and autumn and so it may be best to book in advance, if not then there is still a chance you may be able to get a ticket on the day.

Cost: 600 Yen
Hours: Daily March - December.( Except Wednesdays, although trains also operate on Wednesdays during spring and summer school holidays, the Golden Week, the autumn leaf season and when a national holiday falls on a Wednesday).
Location
From Torokko Saga Station (same building as JR Saga-Arashiyama Station).
How to Get There
JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station (Approx 15 minutes). Then get the Sagano Romantic Train from Torokko Saga Station (same building as JR Saga-Arashiyama Station).
If combining with Hozu Riverboat Ride then at Torokko Kameoka Station (where the Romantic train terminates) . Take a Bus, or another train (which is 2 minute walk to another station) to JR Kameoka station. (10 minutes) Then follow directions for Hozu Riverboat Ride.
