Take a 2 hour journey down the Hozu river in a kind of 'wooden' boat through the mountains from Kameoka to Kyoto's scenic Arashiyama.
The trip takes you through a few harmless rapids and some beautiful scenery.
Many tourist combine the boat trip by first taking a ride on the Sagano Romantic Train.

How to Get There
Approx 20 minutes by JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station to JR Kameoka station.
or by JR Sagano Line from Kyoto Station to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station(Approx 15 minutes). Then get the Sagano Romantic Train from Torokko Saga Station (same building as JR Saga-Arashiyama Station) to Torokko Kameoka Station (25 minutes) . Then a Bus, or another train (which is 2 minute walk to another station) to JR Kameoka station. (10 minutes).
