LOCAL TRANSPORT IN ROME




Train
The city's biggest train station is central station, called 'Roma Termini'. From here you can take local, national and International trains. Nearby is 'Roma Tiburtina', the city's second largest station.

Bus
In front of 'Roma Termini' is a major Bus station for local and National buses.

Metro
Rome's Metro has two functional lines, the "line A" (orange color) and "line B" (blue).

Tram
Rome has a tram system, but none go to the historic centre!

Taxi
Taxis in Rome are white and can be found at many taxi ranks. They are no more expensive than normal European prices, but if you get stuck in the very congestive Rome traffic it can be very expensive!! It will cost extra late at night and on Sundays and holidays.

Car
Driving in Rome is not recommended as no one seems to obey any rules!!!

Tickets
Tickets for Trams & buses can be bought from most newspaper kiosks and tabacchi. You must validate the ticket using a machine on the bus/tram when you board. Tickets for trains can be bought from ticket machines or ticket desk in the station. You must validate the ticket using a machine on the platform before you board the train.
