TRASTEVERE

Trastevere a medieval area of Rome.

The most delightful part is centred around Piazza di Santa Maria, where you can find many restaurants & cafes, bars, charming shops and street performers, particularly in high season. All this in a middle age environment of narrow cobbled streets lined by medieval houses and the enchanting 12th century church of Santa Maria in Trastevere.

Also in Trastevere you will find the Renaissance Villa Farnesina, where a famous fresco by Raphael "The Triumph of Galatea" (1511) can be found.

Trastevere is a wonderful place to stroll around, relax and eat, particularly at night.

It is advised to take a map with you when visiting Trastevere as the narrow streets go in all directions and it is easy to get lost.
