The Chain Bridge, designed by William Tierney Clark, was Budapest's first permanent bridge over the Danube. It was built between 1839 - 1849, however, it was destroyed in the 2nd World War and rebuilt in 1949, exactly 100 years after its original inauguration.
It is now a popular landmark in Budapest.
It is named after Count István Széchenyi, who helped finance its construction.
The Pest side starts at Roosevelt Square, near Gresham Palace, and ends at the Buda side at Adam Clark Square, near the Funicular that takes you to Castle Hill.
