The Museum of Applied Arts was founded in 1872, but had to wait over 20 years before a permanent home was built for it - a wonderful Art Nouveau building built between 1893 and 1896 to the plans of Odon Lechner and Gyula Partos. The building was severely damaged during the 2nd World War, but has since been restored to its original splendour.
The museum has collections of furniture, metalwork, ceramics & glassware, textiles and Garments, and other craftwork. However, the museum only has a small permanent display - "Collectors and treasures" on the first floor. The rest of the museum is used for various temporary exhibitions displayed on the ground floor, part of the first floor and the 2nd floor. These temporary exhibitions last from 1 month to several months.
You can buy a combined ticket to see all exhibitions or you can just buy 1 ticket for a particular exhibition.
