MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS
(Szepmiveszeti Muzeum)




The Museum of Fine Arts was established in 1906, in a building designed by Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog.

The museum has an extensive permanent collection of international art, including paintings by Bruegal, Constable, Correggio, Lotto, Monet, Picasso, Raphael, Rembrant, Rubens, Titian, Van Dyke ... (Note: some painting may be moved to the temporary exhibition)

The collection includes...

*3000 paintings of European painting from the 13th to the late 18th centuries

*Collection of Modern Art consists of painting and sculpture, which were produced after 1800.

*The Collection of Egyptian Art, comprising nearly 4000 items

*Classical Antiquity - 5000 artworks

*600 artworks of the Collection of Old Sculptures encompass the history of European sculpture until the end of the 18th century.

*10 000 drawings and 100 000 prints from the beginnings to the present day.

The museum also has major temporary exhibitions, which can be expensive!

Tues – Sun: 10.00 – 17.30
Entrance Fee: 1200 Forints (Permanent exhibition)
Temporary Exhibitions can be expensive - as much as 3,500 Forints!
