
Budapest Zoo was privately established in 1866. Around 1910, it was bought by the state and redeveloped.
Has over 2000 animals including primates; rhinoceros, giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, polar bears, and livestock including swallow bellied woolly pigs; bold necked hens; spotted cattle; mudi dogs; cikta sheep.
Has various animal displays representing the African savannah, the artic area, and the wetland habitats.
It also has an animal petting area.
