The EURO became the official currency of France in 2002, replacing the French franc.

There are 100 cents in a Euro (€).

Cent Coins: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50

Euro Notes: 5€, 10€, 20€, 50€, 100€, 200€, 500€


  CREDIT CARDS

Visa, MasterCard and American Express are all widely accepted in Paris for most things including Shopping, restaurants, Hotel bills.


  MONEY EXCHANGE

You can change cash at Banks in Paris

There are several ATM machines (Bancomats) in Paris, which may be cheaper to withdraw money using your debit or credit card, but this depends on your individual bank charges!!

  TIPPING

Restaurants: Bills will often include a service charge (service compris) of 15%, if service is good leave some small change (a couple of euro or 5%).

Cafe: Bills will often include a service charge (service compris) of 15%, if service is good leave some small change (10 - 20 cent or round up the bill)

Taxis: around 10% .

Porters, doormen, room service around 0.50€ - 1€

Theatre usherette: 1€ or 2€
