CURRENCY
The British Pound (pound sterling) is still used. Although Britain is part of Europe, they have not adopted the Euro yet.
British money is based on the decimal system. There are 100 Pence in a British pound (£).

CREDIT CARDS
Visa, MasterCard and American Express are all widely accepted in London for most things including shopping, restaurants, travel, hotel bills, theatre tickets and attractions.
MONEY EXCHANGE
You can change cash and traveller's cheques at British Banks, many Post Offices & Travel Agents, some larger Tourist Information Centres, American Express, and Bureaux de Change. Be careful to check their rates has they can vary a lot!
There are many ATM machines in London, which may be cheaper to withdraw money using your debit or credit card, but this depends on your individual bank charges!!
BANKS OPENING TIMES
Generally 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Friday.
Some branches open on Saturday 9.30am - 12pm
Closed on Sunday.
Some branches offer extended opening hours.
TIPPING
Restaurants: Many add a service charge to your bill, but in places that don’t you are expected to leave a 10% to 15% tip unless the service is poor!
Taxis: 10-15% of the fare.
Pubs: No tip, although some pubs return change in a small metal dish hoping you will leave the change!
