The Prague National Museum (Národní muzeum) was founded 1818. Its main building was built by Czech neo-renaissance architect Josef Schulz from 1885 - 1891.
It exhibits natural scientific and historical collections.
Long-term Exhibitions include...
Prehistoric Times of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia: The contemporary archaeological exhibition is housed in six halls on the first floor with artifacts starting from the Stone Age.
Mineralogical and Petrological Exhibition: There are more than 10,000 exhibits of minerals, grinded gemstones, rocks, meteorites and tektites.
Palaeontological exhibition: Development of Life on Earth – petrified plants and animals.
Zoological Exhibition: Invertebrates, Lower Vertebrates, Birds, Mammals
Anthropological Exhibition Human remains .
Osteological Exhibition: Contains 221 skulls and skeletons, representing all the contemporary mammal orders.
The museum also have many special exhibitions.
As well as the main building, the National Theatre collections are also housed in several other buildings across Prague and
czech Republic.
