
The Museum of Decorative Arts (Umeleckoprumyslové museum) was founded in 1885 and is housed in a Neo-Renaissance edifice built in 1897–1900 after the designs of architect Josef Schulz.
The collection includes examples of historical and contemporary crafts, as well as applied arts and design.

Votive Hall: grand entrance hall with an exhibition on the Museum’s history, its founders and significant collections. The so-called Karlštejn Treasure, donated to the Museum by the Jindrich Waldes family, comprises 387 silver objects discovered during restoration work at Karlštejn castle; and the Ceramic Collection of Hugo Vavrecka.
The Story of Fibre: Textiles and Fashion with antique tapestries, Coptic textiles; antique fabrics, lace, embroidery; printed textiles; liturgical vestments; textile art in the 20th century; Furniture for storing clothes.
Born In Fire: This exhibition follows the stylistic and technological developments in glass and ceramics from Antiquity to 20th century glass art. Venetian Glass; double-walled glass; Habaner faience; art nouveau glass.
Print and Image: follows various stages and forms of the reproduction of printed symbols and images from the Middle Ages, through the discovery of letterpress printing, and the advent of the industrial revolution to the present day.
Treasury: telling the story of metals and miscellaneous materials. jewellery; liturgical treasures; pewter; metals in the 20th century.
Time machines: The exhibition of clocks, watches and time-measuring devices shows changes in time-keeping in particular from the point of view of artistic treatment of clock cases, while documenting the development of the clock mechanism.
The museum also has many temporary exhibitions.
