Housed in the splendid 1875 neo-gothic building, called Maison du Roi (opposite the Town Hall in Grand Place), this museum is devoted to the history of Brussels.
However the museum is most popular for displaying several of the 700+ costumes of the Manneken Pis statue, including an Elvis costume. There is also an amusing video of tourists reactions to the statue!
The origin and development of the city is shown through paintings, drawings, prints, maps, scale models and video.
The museum, which does not have an extensive collection, has exhibits of altarpieces, scultures, tapestries, earthenware, porcelain and silverware.
