
The former home of Otto Nicolai (1810 - 49), founder of the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra, now houses the Haus der Musik museum, which opened in 2000.
The museum, is dedicated to the presentation of music and sound. It is spread over several floors with various exhibits including the history of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra; a floor dedicated to composers connected with Vienna; Mozart, Beethoven etc. Plus some fun interactive exhibits including The “Virtual Composer”, where you can pick up a virtual baton to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra! Also, ’the Waltz Dice Game’’ where you compose your own waltz using a dice.
