The main attraction of this large cemetery (Over 2sq kilometres with over 3 million interred here), which opened in 1874, is that it is the final resting place of some of the greatest musicians in history including Ludwig Van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Arnold Schoenberg, Anton Salieri, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss Sr & Jr, among others. There is also a monument to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (he is actually buried in St Marx Cemetery)
There is a beautiful Art Nouveau-style church in the centre of the cemetery, designed by Max Hegele in 1907, named Karl-LuegerKirche
