THE ROCKS & CIRCULAR QUAY

The Rocks is an historical precinct of central Sydney. It is located on the western side of Sydney Cove, in Circular Quay. The Rocks area offers a very small taste of Sydney's past. But generally, The Rocks is now renowned for its shopping and cultural attractions. It is a big tourist area because it is situated between the Sydney Harbour Bridge & the Sydney Opera House.

It was in Sydney Cove, in Circular Quay where members of the First Fleet, with its cargo of convicts, soldiers and officials, stepped ashore on 26 January 1788 and British settlement of Australia was first established.
