
The Sydney Opera House is one of the most distinctive and famous 20th century buildings, and one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world.
It is designed by Jorn Utzon, who won an international competition involving 233 entries from 32 countries.
The Sydney Opera House contains the Concert Hall, Opera Theatre, Drama Theatre, Playhouse, The Studio, Utzon Room, Exhibition Hall, several restaurants, bars and souvenir shops all linked beneath its famous shell.

The Opera House was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II, in her capacity as Queen of Australia, on 20 October 1973.
As well as many touring theatre, ballet, and musical productions, the Opera House is the home of Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
