MRS MACQUARIES POINT & CHAIR

Mrs Macquaries Point is on a peninsula in Sydney Harbour, at the end of Mrs Macquaries Road, near eastern edge of Royal Botanic Gardens ( between Farm Cove and Woolloomooloo Bay). Here you can find a great viewing point of the Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Also at Mrs Macquaries Point you will find Mrs Macquaries Chair, an exposed sandstone rock cut into the shape of a bench in 1816. Mrs Macquarie was the wife of Major-General Lachlan Macquarie, Governor of New South Wales from 1810 to 1821. It is said that she used to sit on the rock and watch for ships from England sailing into the harbour.
