
Darling Harbour is a leisure and entertainment precinct located on the western edge of the Sydney central business district.
With its harbour setting, Darling Harbour contains many of Sydney's tourist attractions including Sydney Wildlife World, Sydney Aquarium, National Maritime Museum, Chinese Garden of Friendship , IMAX Theatre , Powerhouse Museum , Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre ,Cockle Bay Wharf and King Street Wharf , and Harbourside Shopping Centre. There are many free outdoor entertainments and children play areas, along with cafes and restaurants with nice harbour views.
Darling Harbour was originally part of the commercial port of Sydney. By the mid-to-late 1980s it had become largely derelict and was redeveloped as a pedestrian and tourist precinct as an initiative of then New South Wales Minister for Public Works, Laurie Brereton.
How to Get There
The Monorail runs along a 12-minute scenic loop through central Sydney, Chinatown and Darling Harbour.
