St Andrew's Cathedral, consecrated in 1868, is the oldest cathedral in Australia.
It is the cathedral church of the Anglican diocese of Sydney, and the seat of the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney.
Edmund Blacket designed the cathedral in the style known as Perpendicular Gothic.
The stone used throughout is Sydney sandstone.
The organ by William Hill and Sons was installed with a case to Edmund Blacket's design and richly decorated organ pipes.
Major restoration work was undertaken in 1999-2000 to bring the Cathedral up to its present state of good order.
